1. To customize the display brightness, press the "Home" button to access the main menu.

2. Use the "Select" dial to scroll to "System Settings" and press the dial to select.

3. Scroll through the settings options until you find "Backlight" and press the dial to enter.

4. You’ll see three options: "Timeout", "On Level" and "Dim Level".

5. Select the "Timeout" to define the duration until the display brightness changes from "On Level" to "Dim Level".

6. Select "On Level" to adjust the brightness when the radio is on, and "Dim Level" to adjust the brightness of the display when the radio enters dim mode. This means you can set the display to be brighter when you're actively using it, dimmer (or even off). The "Dim Level" will also affect the display when the radio is in standby.
